Features of DXO PhotoLab:

  • Image correction & Enhancement: DxO’s innovative Optics Modules are known for helping photographers get the most out of their gear. These modules are applied immediately based on metadata. The lens softness changes are made to fit the unique properties of each lens. They don’t just improve the whole picture like some other software does.
  • Groundbreaking denoising technologies: Machine learning is used to reduce noise. DeepPRIME, DeepPRIME XD, and DeepPRIME XD2s get rid of noise, bring back details, and make color rendering better. When speed is very important, two old technologies—PRIME and High Quality—are included. You can set the settings automatically or by hand. You can use the new big live preview magnifier to see how denoising and all of your other changes look.
  • Color rendering and fidelity: Extra-wide gamut working color space (DxO Wide Gamut) makes sure that rendering is accurate all the way through the process. When getting files ready to print or show, the soft proofing mode makes sure that the colors are correct. ICC profiles can be used to simulate ink and paper. To be sure of accuracy, use industry-standard color charts to make accurate color profiles.
  • Control exposure, contrast, color & tonality: You can change colors and make color channels your own with Color Wheel. You can change the Exposure Compensation, the Tone Curve (which is better in v8), and the Contrast and Micro contrast. Plus White Balance with a color picker, Color Accentuation to change the brightness and vibrato, a black-and-white palette with a channel mixer, and Selective Tone to have more control over the range of tones.
  • Color rendering: You can use DxO’s camera-calibrated profiles and classic film renderings, or you can import and use DCP profiles or color rendering from your camera. You can start editing with DxO Styles to find new ways to be creative.
  • Smart, automated tools: DxO PhotoLab Download has two new tools that will help you edit faster: DxO Smart Lighting quickly makes sure that the shadows and highlights are both the same brightness level. With DxO Clearview Plus, air haze is cut down and local contrast is raised.
  • LUTs: You can use and import LUTs to make a huge number of creative color choices. You can pick one of 32 pre-installed LUTs and change the strength.
  • Presets and toning: Create and share presets. Duplicate, rename, import/export presets, and organize into folders. Edit existing presets and create partial presets. Use the Style / Toning palette to apply Simple Toning (e.g., Sepia) and access Split Toning by installing DxO Film Pack.
  • ReTouch tool: More than just a cloning/healing tool, rotate, scale, and mirror the source area for absolute control. Edit the shape of the area to be retouched using a brush/eraser. Switch between Clone/Repair modes. Remove unwanted elements with automatic source selection (or set manually).
  • Crop, horizon & perspective tools: Adjust the horizon and crop images using a common or custom ratio — all automatically or manually. Adjust perspective distortion with dedicated tools: force parallels, rectangle, or 8-point guides.
  • Local Adjustment tools: U Point technology features Control Points and Control Lines for intelligent masks without the need for complex layers. Use Brush, Gradient, Eraser, and Auto Mask tools. Create complex adjustments using Hue Masks (new in v8). Toggle visibility and set opacity of masks, and duplicate/invert mask content. Set Control Point/Control Line sensitivity according to Luminance or Chrominance.
  • Advanced History & Quick Compare: Advanced History palette provides a full editing history including specific values and changes. Grouped corrections can be expanded when applying presets in order to track individual changes. Quick Compare Mode puts your edit alongside the original image with a vertical or horizontal split. You can compare your current image with output versions and virtual copies, or choose a reference image.
  • Virtual Copies: Create Virtual Copies for multiple variations of an image without copying the RAW file. Compare quickly with the original image, and selectively copy/paste settings between images.
  • Highly customizable workspace: reposition/hide panels, collapse/expand palettes, and use a search field to quickly find tools. Add your most-used tools to a favorites palette, or create custom palettes. Filter displayed corrections by category. Display only the tools actively making changes to an image. • Histogram: Display RGB, individual colors, and luminosity channels. Indicate where highlights and/or shadows have been clipped. Display the RGB value of an individual pixel.
  • Powerful functionality, catalog-free: Don’t import images; simply browse your disk and edit your images on the fly. Select/search/filter photos with ease. Apply star ratings, color tags, pick/reject images, and choose from a range of criteria when searching, including color tags. Right-click to export to a specific application. Send images directly to other applications. With Nik Collection installed, you have direct access to all plugins.
  • Watermarks: Create your own watermarks. Use both text and images together, adjust the size, opacity, blend modes, and save as presets.

What’s New in DXO PhotoLab:

  • The future of noise reduction and detail extraction: Get up to three extra stops of ISO when photographing. For noise reduction and recovering fine detail, nothing matches DeepPRIME XD2s. Trained on billions of image samples, our neural network delivers incredible RAW processing. It now uses an improved algorithm, giving you cleaner images with incredible levels of authentic detail, free from fringing and artifacts.
  • Preview noise reduction and other edits in real time: The new magnifier gives you a live preview of denoising and demosaicing, along with all of your other edits. You no longer need to guess how far you can push the shadows in a noisy image, or wonder if you could have lifted them further. This handy tool lets you inspect your edits with ease, offering a user-defined zoom level of up to 1600%. Once you try it, you will wonder how you managed without it.
  • Hue Masks for sophisticated adjustments: Precise editing needs pinpoint masking. Along with its legendary U Point™ tools, version 8 introduces Hue Masks. Powerful and ultra-accurate, these let you create selections by picking out a hue — or range of hues — so you can then apply a variety of adjustments. Pick from eight predefined hues, or sample directly from the image, then fine-tune the selected range with micro input/output controls for the smoothest, most photographic transitions. Enjoy a new level of control and push your photos further than ever.
  • Enhanced Tone Curve: A range of enhancements that put you in control. There’s lots to discover: On-image control lets you click and drag on the image using the Tone Picker to adjust your tones in an instant. The new Luma channel means you can make tonal adjustments without affecting saturation. And visual aids, a histogram, number values for each point, and user-defined presets make the Tone Curve more accessible and intuitive than ever.
  • Improved lens softness compensation: Our laboratory-grade data just got even better. DxO’s renowned Optics Modules already give you profiles tailor-made for your specific camera/lens combination, using data that goes beyond every other profile available. Now, upgraded algorithms amplify detail without adding fringing or artifacts in high-frequency areas. Experience the new standard of lens softness compensation.
  • A smarter, faster workflow: We strive to make your editing just that little bit smoother. With the new Compare Mode, set any image as a reference to match your adjustments for absolute precision. You now get a preview whenever your mouse rolls over Color Renderings, LUTs, Tone Curve Presets, etc., giving you instant insight into your changes. And no upgrade would be complete without some speed boosts: browsing and image loading is now faster across the board.
